To promote awareness of agricultural innovation, government officials will visit model farms to observe best practices. Given agricultureโ€™s vital role in Pakistanโ€™s economy, initiatives under GPI and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) continue to support the sectorโ€™s progress.

The Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) is a collaborative effort between the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army aimed at revitalizing the countryโ€™s agricultural sector and promoting sustainable development. Launched in 2023, GPI seeks to modernize farming practices, enhance food security, and stimulate economic growth.

Key Objectives of Green Pakistan Initiative:

1. Land Development: GPI has identified approximately 4.8 million acres of land across Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for agricultural development. This includes converting previously barren areas into productive farmland.

2. Modern Farming Practices: The initiative emphasizes technology-driven, large-scale farming by introducing mechanization, high-efficiency irrigation systems, and research and development to boost agricultural productivity.

3. Support for Farmers: GPI focuses on supporting smallholder farmers, who make up over 95% of Pakistanโ€™s agricultural sector, by providing access to advanced machinery, quality seeds, fertilizers, and training through the establishment of Green Agri Malls and Agri Service Companies.

4. Water Management: Efficient water management is a priority, with efforts to implement effective irrigation solutions and regulate groundwater extraction to preserve vital water resources.
