Take Part In The Pioneering Agriculture Strategy By Providing Your Feedback

Farmers are at the heart of Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon Borough Council’s Agriculture Strategy, and local farmers are encouraged to participate in a survey in order to help shape the direction of this strategy.

All participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a £150 voucher to use with any animal feed company of their choice as an added benefit!

A unique opportunity presents itself for the borough council to form a partnership with the agriculture industry, to lead the way in developing a strategic approach to the sector, and to develop agribusiness and agri-tech within the area.

As of 2019, Northern Ireland’s Agriculture industry employs 7205 people in 3245 registered farms or 13% of the working population.

An important element of developing a strategy is the consultation at the farm level, which allows stakeholders to provide input where needed, resulting in creative and realistic recommendations for existing opportunities and challenges in the industry.

Lord Mayor, Alderman Glenn Barr, stated, “The Agriculture Industry is the engine that powers so many of our businesses.”

“Mainstream agriculture is heavily dependent on the agricultural industry, which includes agri-food production, manufacturing, machinery, and haulage and transportation of agri-commodities.”

“It is vitally important for us to hear and listen to the thoughts and experiences of those who work in the industry day in and day out, and will offer us expert advice on what should be included in the strategy as we move forward.”

Please share your ideas and suggestions with us. I encourage all members of the farming community to do so.

We are currently conducting a detailed analysis of Agriculture in the borough at a local level and these findings will inform the development of an action plan, as well as consultations with leading stakeholders and learning from best practices internationally.

Our survey is currently open and closes on Friday, 2nd July.
