Digital and Financial Skills Training Rolled Out for Agri Officers

FAISALABAD, July 14 (APP): Agricultural experts have emphasized the urgent need to promote climate-resilient farming practices to tackle challenges such as climate change and water scarcity, which are hindering agricultural progress.
They shared these views during the opening session of a four-week workshop on Finance, Administration, Management, and e-Governance, organized by the Professional Training and Skill Development Center (PTSDC) at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF).
The workshop is a mandatory part of the promotion process for officers in the Punjab Agriculture Department. A total of 65 officers from the Agriculture Research Wing are participating in the 30th batch of this program.
Following the directives of UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, comprehensive arrangements were made for the attending officers.
PTSDC Director Dr. Waqas Wakil highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector as the backbone of the national economy. He underscored the need for adopting modern agricultural techniques to meet the demands of the rapidly growing population.
He added that, as an agricultural country, enhancing this sector is vital for poverty reduction.
According to him, such training programs not only equip department officers with key administrative and technical skills but also strengthen efforts toward achieving national food security.
Dr. Wakil further noted that PTSDC currently offers 250 short courses focusing on agriculture, livestock, and rural development.
Dr. Nazar Hussain shared that the center has trained over 11,000 individuals since its establishment.
